I quite liked District 9, I thought it was pretty good. Other than that... the last few movies I've seen were Gran Torino, or a bunch of Japanese films.

Ponyo, Seven Samurai and Sanshiro Sugata are the last 3 I watched. Seven Samurai is purdy good.

I would also recommend Big Man Japan (大日本人 or Dainipponjin). It starts slow, but gains in pace before finishing with an awesome finale, as long as you have some understanding of Japanese culture, and don't treat it as an American-style movie.

I'm not 100% convinced that I'd have the understanding. Would basic year 8 Japanese at high school of given me enough knowledge? Some of us aren't all savvy like with the culture stuff. Razz

Also, for all you Alice sceptics -- 7.3 stars! I'm ok with that for the time being. I've heard that the 3D wasn't as effective as it could have been, but I'm [i]so excited[/url] about seeing it still! Just actually have to make it to the cinema... Has anyone seen it?

It's not that bad... it's just if you want a movie that contains no subtlety when trying to deliver humour, then you're probably best with an American movie, whereas this is delivered a little bit more... delicately. The ending is truly fantastic, and a little bit deep with references to current Japan-US relations. Very Happy

I started watching Monkey Magic (the film) this weekend, which is both really terrible, and really horrible at the same time. Very Happy

I only remember the old TV show - link me this movie, please. I'd like to know how really terrible, and really horrible it could possibly be!

Ok, so I saw Alice and there was much of the love. Love

I do understand there were some problems with it --

- Colours in some scenes sucked ass. I know they were doing it on purpose, but it just looked like one of their cameras was dying.
- 3D wasn't always great. They could have used it more effectively.
- Make up on some characters sucked ass. DO NOT GIVE CHARACTERS WHITE HAIR WITH DARK BROWN EYEBROWS. NOT HAPPY. (Just a note for any future film makers here.)
- there's a 't' word that rhymes with 'meaning' (I'm not allowed to say the actual word, trust me, it's better for us all) that could have been better, but that's not something that I really notice.
- And... the chick who played Alice wasn't as attractive as I would have liked... but you cant win them all!

Has anyone else seen it yet? Agree, disagree?

Not that I'm trying to be really antagonistic to wards this film, but I did find this funny.
